Unvieling First overview unit representing the sixteen communities.

November 5, 2007 was a special day for us all. It was the day that we unveiled the first completed unit of our exhibit. The unit provides a visual overview of the sixteen orders of Sisters being featured as part of our exhibit.

The unit, artfully designed by Joy Borelli-Edwards, of the Borelli-Edwards Gallery in Lawrenceville, PA, was accompanied by selected artifacts and historical clothing of several of the communities represented in the unit. Student interns, Carla Parish and Marisa Rowe, and Sue Mraz, our part-time worker were instrumental in creating and dressing the mannequins which were displayed. Mr. Jeff Lang, of Olde Lang Signs, did a wonderful job of creating our portable wall on which to place the unit. Mr. Dennis Marsico, of Dioynsus Press also did an excellent job of digitalizing and reproducing the images used for this unit.

Sr. Louise Grundish, SC, did the honors of unveiling of the unit in the presence of Sisters representing each of the congregations participating in our project. As part of the day’s events, Dr. John Bavaro provided the Sisters with an update on the project. Dr. Russell, Dean of the College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences (the College in which the project is located), along with SRU’s President Robert Smith and Provost William Williams have been strong supporters of the project since its beginning. Dr. Williams and Dr. Russell represented University Administration and addressed the group and communicated the University’s pleasure and honor in being the sponsors of this project. The day concluded after everyone enjoyed lunch and socializing with each other, courtesy of Dr. Bruce Russell.

The day would not have been possible without the assistance of Ms. Mary Ann King, Director of Academic Resources, and the men of the Facilities Department who carefully transported and assembled the unit with the help of Joy Borelli-Edwards.

This completed unit remains on display at SRU’s Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Woods.
