The opening for the Sisters in Healthcare History Project took place for the Slippery Rock University campus community at the Martha Gault Art Gallery on Tuesday, October 27th. Slippery Rock University's President Robert Smith and Dr. John A. Bavaro, RN, Project Coordiantor, welcomed the visitors to the exhibit. The exhibit was well attended by students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Many favorable remarks were given by the attendees who were impressed by the work done by the Sisters as highlighted in the exhibit. For many of the attendees, the exhibit was their first exposure to the ground-breaking work of the Sisters in pioneering healthcare in Western Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, November the 7th, the Sisters in Healthcare History Exhibit celebrated a special day for the Sisters, benefactors of the project, and friends. Dr. William Williams, Slippery Rock University's Provost and Dr. John A. Bavaro welcomed everyone to the exhibit. The event was well-attended and many of the Sisters expressed their appreciation for the amount of time and effort that went into the project and the exhibit. A number of our benefactors and friends had the opportunity to spend some time with the Sisters and thanked them for the special role they have played, and continue to play in healthcare in Western Pennsylvania. Refreshments were served and the University's Flute Quartet provided musical accompaniment for the day's events.
